Privacy Policy
RainCo Group Pty Ltd (ABN 90 662 536 441) ("RainCo", "we", "us", "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
This policy explains what we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It applies to rainco.com.au and the products and services we provide through it. By using our site or providing us with your information, you consent to the handling of your information as described in this policy.
Information we collect
We collect only what we genuinely need to run our business and look after you. Depending on how you interact with us, this may include:
- Contact details — your name, email, phone number, and delivery or billing address.
- Order information — the products you buy, order history, and enquiries you make.
- Payment details — processed securely by our payment providers; we do not store full card numbers on our systems.
- Account details — login credentials and preferences for any account you create.
- Trade account details — for trade applicants: business name, ABN, trading history and related details.
- Communications — records of your enquiries, support chats, reviews and correspondence with us.
- Site activity — how you use rainco.com.au, including pages viewed, referring pages, IP address, approximate location, device and browser information, and data collected through cookies, pixels, tags and analytics.
Sensitive information. We do not generally collect sensitive information (such as health, racial or political information). If we ever need to, we will ask for your consent first, unless the law permits otherwise.
Anonymity. Where practicable, you may deal with us anonymously or using a pseudonym — for example, when making a general enquiry. For most transactions (such as placing an order or opening a trade account) we need to identify you, and cannot complete these without the required information.
Children. Our site is intended for users aged 18 and over and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
How we collect it
We collect information:
- Directly from you — when you order, create or apply for an account, contact us, subscribe, leave a review, or otherwise interact with us.
- Automatically — as you browse our site, via cookies, pixels and analytics (see Cookies, pixels and analytics below).
- From third parties — such as our service providers, advertising and analytics platforms, delivery partners, payment providers, and publicly available sources, where relevant to the purposes below.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- process, fulfil and deliver your orders, and manage returns, warranties and refunds;
- respond to enquiries and provide customer support;
- create and manage your account and trade accounts, including credit and identity checks where relevant;
- send transactional messages (order and shipping updates) and, where you have opted in, marketing communications;
- personalise, measure and improve our website, products, service and advertising;
- detect, prevent and address fraud, security incidents, misuse and other unlawful activity; and
- meet our legal, regulatory, tax and record-keeping obligations.
Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with trusted providers and partners who help us operate RainCo, and only to the extent they need it to perform their role. These include:
- Shopify — our e-commerce platform; it powers rainco.com.au and our secure checkout and stores our store and customer data.
- Payment providers — including Shopify Payments and Afterpay (if you choose to pay that way); payments are processed securely and we do not store full card details.
- ShipHero — order fulfilment and warehouse management, so we can pick, pack and dispatch your order.
- Australia Post and courier partners — delivery; they receive the name, address and contact details needed to deliver your order. Australia Post is our main carrier; we occasionally use other couriers.
- Klaviyo — email and SMS: order and shipping notifications, and marketing where you have opted in.
- HubSpot — our customer relationship management (CRM) system, used to manage enquiries, accounts and communications.
- Intercom — customer support chat on our site; the messages you send are processed to help us assist you.
- Microsoft Clarity — anonymised analytics and session recordings (clicks, scrolls, navigation) that help us diagnose issues and improve the site; it masks sensitive input fields.
- Advertising, social media and analytics platforms — to understand how our site is used, measure campaigns and show relevant ads on and off our site. These currently include or may in the future include Google (Ads, Analytics), Meta (Facebook and Instagram), TikTok, Pinterest, Reddit, Snapchat, LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Microsoft Advertising (Bing), and other comparable advertising, retargeting, affiliate and analytics platforms we may adopt from time to time. These platforms may set cookies or pixels and may combine the data they collect with information they already hold about you under their own privacy policies.
We may also engage other IT, hosting, marketing, professional, financial and logistics service providers in the ordinary course of business.
We may also disclose personal information: where required or authorised by law, court order or regulator; to protect our legal rights, property or safety, or that of others; to enforce our terms; and in connection with an actual or proposed sale, merger or restructure of our business (in which case information may be transferred to the acquiring party).
Marketing and your choices
We send marketing only where you have opted in, consistent with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth) and APP 7.
- You can unsubscribe at any time via the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, by replying STOP to marketing SMS, or by contacting us.
- Transactional messages (order confirmations and shipping updates) are part of your purchase and continue while you have active orders, regardless of marketing preferences.
- You can opt out of interest-based advertising through your ad-platform settings (e.g. Google Ads Settings, Meta ad preferences) and via industry tools such as youronlinechoices.com.au, and manage tracking through your browser and device settings.
Cookies, pixels and analytics
Our site uses cookies, pixels, tags and similar technologies to keep the site working, remember your preferences, understand how the site is used, and deliver and measure advertising. These fall broadly into:
- Essential — required for the site and checkout to function;
- Functional — remember your preferences and settings;
- Analytics — help us understand and improve site performance; and
- Advertising — help us and our partners show and measure relevant ads.
You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work as well if you do. Where required, we will seek your consent for non-essential cookies.
Overseas disclosure
Some of our providers and advertising platforms store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries where those providers or their sub-processors operate. Where we disclose information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with this policy and the APPs.
Keeping your information secure
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures — including secure servers, encryption in transit, access controls and restricting access to those who need it — to protect your information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. No online service is ever completely secure, but we take reasonable care to keep your data safe.
Data breaches. If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we will respond in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), including notifying affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) where required.
How long we keep it
We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes described above, or as required to meet legal, tax and record-keeping obligations (for example, financial records are generally kept for at least 7 years). When it is no longer required, we securely delete or de-identify it.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct anything inaccurate, out of date or incomplete;
- delete it, where we are not required by law to keep it; and
- stop using it for marketing.
To make a request, contact us below. We may need to verify your identity first. We will respond within a reasonable time (generally within 30 days). We do not charge for making a request, though a reasonable cost may apply for granting access in some cases.
Complaints. If you have a privacy concern, contact our Privacy Officer using the details below and we will investigate and respond, generally within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au, by phone on 1300 363 992.

Our site may contain links to third-party websites and services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.
