Your RainCo tapware is made to live in a real home — warm hands, running water, and the small rituals of everyday life. It doesn't ask for much. A little care, done gently and often, keeps every finish looking the way it did on day one.

Most marks aren't from use — they're from the wrong cleaner, or residue left to linger. Here's how to keep yours beautiful for the long run.

The one rule

Gentle and often beats harsh and occasional. The simplest habit of all: clean hands first, then touch the tap. Everyday products like shampoo, hand wash and toothpaste keep quietly reacting on metal long after they've rinsed from your skin — and that's what dulls a finish over time.

Everyday care

After heavy use, a quick rinse, a soft cloth and a dry is all it takes. Once a week, add a drop of dish soap. Drying is the secret — it lifts minerals away before they can settle. The whole thing takes less than a minute.

Water spots

Skip the vinegar. Lay a cloth dampened with warm, mildly soapy water over the spot, leave it a moment, then wipe and dry. Mineral marks rest on the surface — they almost never need anything stronger.

What not to use

A good rule: if a cleaner is made to strip soap scum, it's made to strip finishes too. Keep bleach, vinegar, citrus, descalers, ammonia, mould and bathroom sprays, abrasive creams, scourers and magic erasers well away from your tapware.

Your finishes

Antique Brass, Brushed Brass, Brushed Copper, Brushed Nickel and Gun Metal Brushed are bonded finishes, not polished metal — so there's nothing to polish, wax, oil or buff. You're simply preserving what's already there. The same gentle approach suits your matching handles, towel rails and hooks.

During renovation

This is where most damage happens — often before you've even moved in. Acid washes, grout haze remover, silicone-remover overspray and building dust can mark a finish for good, sometimes in seconds. Keep the protective covers on until the very last clean.

Coastal & hard-water homes

Salt air and hard water are tougher than everyday tap water. If that's your home, rinse with fresh water and dry a little more often — a weekly wipe is plenty to keep things bright.

What's normal

With time, a finish settles — the sheen softens, the tone shifts a touch, a little character appears. That's normal, and part of living with real materials. Peeling, flaking or bubbling isn't — if you ever see that, talk to us first.
